Recent Instagram

God I love Instagram for iPhone. Who needs to worry about such things as lighting and f-stops etc when Instagram sorts all that out for you??

The Bribie Island accidental dog-club. I get the impression that this gathering wasn't planned. They all just happened to be there at the one time.

Bribie Island gulls. Much like gulls from anywhere else. It gave me great pleasure naming these little critters, for no reason other than I felt like it.

I've long loved this outdoor sculpture at the Queensland Art Gallery. If only I had taken the time to work out who it was by.

Instagram!

Despite some fellow bloggers' hesitation regarding use of Instagram photos on their blog, I have no such reserve.

Behold this little beauty - captured at the Garden Way yesterday while I was out with my Mum buying tomato & rocket to plant in my little front oasis/yard (tick one resolution/goal partially completed)...

Cool cat

If you've been here before you know I'm not ordinarily one to post pictures of cats...but this one made me laugh.

Kermit gets loose

For some reason, I secretly love the idea that super-cute Kermit the Frog is actually a chain-smoking caffeine addict. How else did he get that cutely raspy voice, perfect for singing "over the rainbow" and "it's not easy being green".

We miss you Magicland...

We Miss You Magicland at the Gallery of Modern Art does exactly what it says on the box.

It's a joyful, happy place where you imagine fairies flit around when you're not looking. If you look closely in the middle of the last photo is a tiny mouse - where does a person find a miniture mouse?! There are just so many beautiful things there, and children run around in joyous awe. I marvel at their ability to ignore everything else and just live in the moment. It's pretty easy to do that in Magicland though. Get there if you can. Go twice.

First Anniversary

I'm not ordinarily one for celebrating anniversaries. Milestones, yes. Anniversaries, not so much. But I've realised that it is 1 year + 1 day since my first blog entry...In honour of this auspicious occasion I thought I should put a little something out there. What's better to celebrate with than a 5 year old blurry photo of a sparkler??

Nothing...

Releasing balloons

Remember as a kid the combined joy and sadness of releasing a balloon? It's so lovely to watch it float up and imagine where it might go; but then sad, because you'd just let your balloon go...

Fun fact: in NSW this would be illegal. Seriously. Apparently releasing balloons is against the Protection of the Environment Operations Act. In fact, if you release 100 or more balloons it's aggravated releasing of balloons. As if you could release balloons in an aggravated manner - it's far too lovely a thing to do... Hello nanny state.

Rollerskating makes you smile.

I used to love rollerskating as a kid. Not quite as much as this young'un...but still. It's a universally accepted truth that rollerskating make you smile.

Look at those chunkily delightful legs!

And just to finish this post off rollerskating style, here's Rollerskating Jam Named Saturday by De La Soul!

Daytime seaside sparkles

So I've got a new camera...an Olympus Pen E-PL1. And it's love. It lets me take photos during the day that make the sea look like there are sequins floating in it.

I think that's technically called bokeh. I like to call it delightful. Obviously, I've got a way to go before I master this fine art, but I'm having fun learning.

Clifford Coffin

Such beautiful, old images. From back when ladies were ladies, and the fellas spanked their secretaries on the ass...

For some reason, these images reminded me of the below photo I took in Coogee last year from this post. Maybe something in the colouring?? Certainly not in the talent.

Manly through the eyes of the hipstamatic

More hipstamtatic...I'm a fiend for the ye olde style images.

Manly 'beach front'...more mud flats than beach, really.

A collection of 80's style wooden sculptures.

Close up of the 80's pastel. Love the under-belly stripes.

Manly harbour

This song reminds me of the sleepy, dreamy image of Manly Boat Harbour above - Seabright, Sea Samba. So delightful...

Paddington in pictures

Lately, I've been strolling around with my hipstamatic app in high usage. Here's a few pics from around Paddington, my home turf.

Shadows of bottles through the window at Sassafras Cafe.

Highchair daisies at Lure on Latrobe.

Blue bearded iris in an obliging front yard

Delightful toys sparring at Lure on Latrobe

The old Paddington Fire House

One of these days I'll buy an actual DSLR...in fact, I've got my eye on one in particular. Hello Olympus Pen E-PL1 or Fuji Finepix x100. My bank balance doesn't accommodate either just at the moment.
