Marcel the Shell with Shoes on...

This is super cute! Perhaps not the reference to the fact that Marcel's skis are made from a man's toenails. But handgliding on a dorito is pretty special.

So...that happened

After six years together, my relationship ended...

There's not much to say about it, except cliches: time heals all wounds, this too shall pass, onwards and upwards, it wasn't meant to be...blah blah blah. When you stop to think about it, there really are a lot of cliches that can be used about the end of a relationship.

Introducing my latest brain crush...Mr Andrew Boe

Brain crush : def - wanting someone purely for their mind - has nothing to do with sexual attraction. Thanks Urban Dictionary. Not that this chap is hard on the eyes...quite the opposite, it's just that the brain crush developed when he started speaking.

May I introduce you to Andrew Boe, barrister at law (that phrase makes me smirk every time; as though you can be a barrister at anything else).

Mr Boe was counsel in a number of cases for the Palm Island death in custody of Cameron Doomadgee, and appears in the film 'The Tall Man' which I saw earlier this week. I can't recommend seeing that film enough - get on down and have a look. Be warned though; it's not a feel-good flick.

Mr Boe is joined by some highly esteemed gents in my category of brain crushes, which include Stephen Fry and Adam Spencer.

First Anniversary

I'm not ordinarily one for celebrating anniversaries. Milestones, yes. Anniversaries, not so much. But I've realised that it is 1 year + 1 day since my first blog entry...In honour of this auspicious occasion I thought I should put a little something out there. What's better to celebrate with than a 5 year old blurry photo of a sparkler??

Nothing...

Finders keepers, losers weepers

I went to the Finders Keepers markets at the Old Museum this afternoon with a girlfriend. We strolled the markets, ate rocky road, citrus curd tarts (which the super-cute girl accidentally called citrus turd tarts - clearly the end of a long day), drank coffee, languished in the late afternoon sun, and most importantly felt inspired by all talented artists out there.

There were so many talented people displaying their wares (including the ever-present Frankie stand and etsy.au), but The Gently Unfurling Sneak stood out to me, in particular. I had to hold myself back from whipping out the credit card; it's for the greater good...I may have overspent slightly in recent times.

As a small aside, at law in Australia the adage "finders keepers losers weepers" can actually be true in certain circumstances.
