Say Something Nice

This is just so lovely....

Knitted shorts

I came across this pattern for these knitted shorts... If you're so inclined, here's what you could look like if you were to knit these bad boys up:

My only question is, if it's cold enough to wear wool this close to your nether regions, why wouldn't you cover up in other ways??

It just looks like summer

We've had some pretty average weather lately - not bad, just nothing like this:

This is such a vibrant, beautiful photo. Now I can't wait for summer...

Innocent Bystander

On our recent WA holiday, my bestie and I spent time at the Little Creatures brewery in Freemantle - which is a really cool spot to grab a drink. The waiters dress as fairies and hobbits and the like...slightly odd, but fun nonetheless. Little Creatures are the makers of Innocent Bystander - a delightful sparkling Moscato, which was consumed with vigour whilst visiting there.

Anyway, after a HARD week in tender submission hell, all I wanted tonight was a couple of bottles of Innocent Bystander (fear not, these are only 1.6 drinks a bottle). It comes in the prettiest bottle going round, tastes like sweet pink joy, and reminds me of good times.

So tonight, it's just me, the lovely Innocent Bystander and some trash tv.

New scarf - Persimmon

I thought I'd post a little picture to demonstrate how this little holiday project:

The early stages of an infinity scarf in Belle Organic DK Amy Butler for Rowan wool - the colour is Persimmon.

eventually turned into this:

Circle scarf in Belle Organic Persimmon cotton/wool

Thao and Mirah - Eleven

Both of these artists are new to me. But in combination they're pretty awesome.

Tea and knitting

It's a grey ol' Saturday afternoon, and I've got nowhere to be and nothing to do. After years of studying on weekends, I must say, this is a delightful change. A girlfriend just gave me some tea for my upcoming birthday (Madame Flavour: green tea, jasmine and pear - lovely).

So, I plan on watching trash TV - nothing new there - drink lovely tea and continue knitting my supersize blanket.

Knitted stools!

I can see these languishing in my lounge room, looking fabulous. Claire Anne O'Brien's knitted furniture - behold!

I've been knitting a full size blanket for the lounge, though now we're coming into warmer weather. I 'spose it'll be perfect for next year then...

Sunday afternoon lemon curd slice

I was lucky enough to be given a big bag full of bush lemons today by a friend's mother. I don't know if you've ever seen bush lemons before (this was my first introduction) but they look a little like the evil cousin of the meyer lemon. The lemon's doppleganger as it were.

Anyway, ugliness aside, they taste beautiful. So, I winkled out a Donna Hay Lemon Curd Slice recipe and threw it together. And I got to use these super-cute babushka doll measuring cups that a girlfriend gave me for Christmas.

So here's the finished result. According to the recipe I needed to put the slice in the fridge for 2 hrs before I tried to cut it into squares. I may have been a little bit hasty - but only by 15 minutes. They're tasty, but not quite as pretty as Donna Hay's. Fair enough.

Lemon curd slice...crumbly, lemon curd slice
