Melbourne Love

I've just gotten back from 3 days in Melbourne hanging with my bestie, her husband and brother-in-law. The rubbish diet was thrown out the window - instead wine, pizza, creme catalana, plum bob cake and coffee was consumed - though not in that order.

Aside from eating myself into a coma, I saw my first ever ballet (Romeo & Juliet with Akira designed costumes), played in Bendigo and bought the most amazing amount of wool from the Bendigo Wool Store - stay tuned for more detail there.

I couldn't resist snapping the beautiful cloud formation

What makes 5.5 years of study worthwhile???

Other than the feeling of satisfaction that you get from completing something? A star shaped necklace filled with diamonds from your Mum.

Star shaped diamond necklace = hard work all worthwhile
I'm not ordinarily a diamond kind of girl - but I'll make an exception for this. Thanks Mum! What a gorgeous gift. This necklace catches the sunlight so beautifully and sparkles when under lights. I love it.

Remember the Dewey Decimal System??

I picked up Real Estate Agency Law in Queensland by W D Duncan today to flick through for work purposes, and on the very first page was this:

Ye olde fashioned library slip
That's right. A library slip, complete with names and return date.

It took me straight back to primary school where each Wednesday we'd have library day. We'd all toddle in with our scabby knees and book bags, scan through the catalogues and find a book that we fancied. This book featured heavily in my borrowing for a few years. I tell you, working out the Dewey Decimal System was no mean feat as a 6 year old.

I always had a crappiest library bag too. Nothing like this cutie:

And how delightful is this library slip from the 40's - adorned with the image of an aloof young girl:

Rollerskating makes you smile.

I used to love rollerskating as a kid. Not quite as much as this young'un...but still. It's a universally accepted truth that rollerskating make you smile.

Look at those chunkily delightful legs!

And just to finish this post off rollerskating style, here's Rollerskating Jam Named Saturday by De La Soul!

Precipitation

This is much cuter than the scientific explanation for what happens when it rains...

Daytime seaside sparkles

So I've got a new camera...an Olympus Pen E-PL1. And it's love. It lets me take photos during the day that make the sea look like there are sequins floating in it.

I think that's technically called bokeh. I like to call it delightful. Obviously, I've got a way to go before I master this fine art, but I'm having fun learning.

Tea time

I've recently had some health issues, which have meant making changes to my diet, including giving up drinking coffee. As a die-hard coffee drinker, with favourite brands, special cups and morning routines, this has presented quite the challenge.

Thankfully, I've been able to replace one habit for another. Coffee for tea. I've long been a tea lover, but not in the way that I am now. So, this post is in honour of my new obsession.

I haven't found the designer for this cup, but the image is via Pinterest.
I'd love to sip tea from this set each morning.

Clifford Coffin

Such beautiful, old images. From back when ladies were ladies, and the fellas spanked their secretaries on the ass...

For some reason, these images reminded me of the below photo I took in Coogee last year from this post. Maybe something in the colouring?? Certainly not in the talent.

Manly through the eyes of the hipstamatic

More hipstamtatic...I'm a fiend for the ye olde style images.

Manly 'beach front'...more mud flats than beach, really.

A collection of 80's style wooden sculptures.

Close up of the 80's pastel. Love the under-belly stripes.

Manly harbour

This song reminds me of the sleepy, dreamy image of Manly Boat Harbour above - Seabright, Sea Samba. So delightful...

Paddington in pictures

Lately, I've been strolling around with my hipstamatic app in high usage. Here's a few pics from around Paddington, my home turf.

Shadows of bottles through the window at Sassafras Cafe.

Highchair daisies at Lure on Latrobe.

Blue bearded iris in an obliging front yard

Delightful toys sparring at Lure on Latrobe

The old Paddington Fire House

One of these days I'll buy an actual DSLR...in fact, I've got my eye on one in particular. Hello Olympus Pen E-PL1 or Fuji Finepix x100. My bank balance doesn't accommodate either just at the moment.

Umbrella girl

This image is super sweet. Now that I've seen it, I've got Rihanna's Umbrella stuck in my head.

Umbrella Girl image found via pinterest (hints as to the original artist would be most welcome).

It's my birthday this weekend, and I was hoping for some sunny weather in order to have a sun-laden picnic. Instead it's meant to rain all weekend. In that case, I'm going to splash about in the rain and channel the vibe from this picture.

Laura Marling

Laura Marling...what a darling. I especially love that you can hear the Aussie accent through her singing.
